Dear Parents

“The most precious jewels you will ever have around your neck are the arms of your children.” We understand this sentiment as much as you do. That is the reason that the school has been alert all through to ensure complete safety of your child.

Amid heightened concerns over the safety of students on the school premises, we would like to reassure you that DPS Rohini has been adhering to all safety norms.

Let us sum up a few strategic safety measures that we follow at DPS, Rohini.

Only the Main Gate of the school allows the entry and the exit of the visitors after thorough verification. All school gates close at 7:30 a.m. and open only at dispersal time. The other two gates of the school are opened and closed at designated times. All the gates are manually guarded by security guards that have been hired from a professional, registered security firm. Bus conductors, drivers, support staff have police verification certificates. The school does not encourage use of mobile phones even for the visitors.

We have a tie-up with Jaipur Golden Hospital and a fully equipped ambulance is available on the school premises at all times while the students are in school. A qualified doctor and two nurses are also available in the Infirmary at all times. Further, the faculty members constantly patrol the school campus to ensure discipline and security through the school day. Moreover, the entire school is under the surveillance of CCTV cameras that are fully functional 24x7 and staff has been deputed to watch the CCTV round the clock and report immediately in case of misbehavior or even a minor accident. Teachers travel with the children in the school bus till they reach their respective stops safely. In other words, a teacher is always available in the bus in case of an exigency. All buses are GPS enabled.  We will soon be implementing RFID to make full use of the GPS facility.

As you must be aware, the school has a ‘Disaster Management Programme’ under which mock drills are held periodically. Regular maintenance / repair work of everything from furniture to watercoolers and washrooms is carried out routinely to ensure complete safety of the children. Please be assured that all such construction/ repair work is carried out strictly after school hours. A ‘POCSO Committee’ is also in place to work on preventive measures.

All the washrooms are always supervised. Two full time maids attend to every washroom in the Infant School. Washrooms in the main school building have male /female helpers deputed outside them.

However, as equal partners in the wellbeing of the children, parents have an important role to play in order to make school safety foolproof. Here is some advice for you:

1. Please intimate the school urgently in case of any change in the following areas:

                                I.            Residence address

                              II.            Phone number/s

III.            Bus route/ taxi/mode of transport

2. Please be at the bus /taxi stop on time

3. The school needs to be informed if:

                                I.            The child is absent

                              II.            Is unwell

III.            Has rejoined after an illness

                            IV.            Under medication

                              V.            Requires special attention for any reason

VI.            There is a bereavement in the family

                          VII.            Is being bullied

VIII.            Is uncomfortable in the presence of a staff member

4. Parents should check the bags of their wards every morning and afternoon to ensure that she / he is not carrying any objectionable item, even if it is a toy.

5. Students are not allowed to carry Mobile Phones to school or during excursions. Please ensure that you do not give into the temptation.

6. Monitor your ward’s internet time and content

7. Do not make requests for your ward to leave school early. If you need to come to school for any purpose, kindly carry your I-card.

8. If you have to pick up your child, kindly do not insist on entering the school building before the designated time. On days of the open house and school functions, adhere to scheduled timings.

9. Those using taxi as a mode of transport, please insist on verification of the cab driver for the sake of your child’s safety. Further, do not engage a taxi that does not follow the safety norms and carry more than one and a half times of the maximum capacity of the cab.

10. Kindly do not make requests for two different modes of transport in the morning and the afternoon. Frequent change of bus route will not be entertained.

11. Please ensure that your ward will not leave home without his / her tiffin and water bottle(optional). Sending it later will not be entertained.

12. Please go through the school almanac to apprise yourself of the school’s policies and functioning.

The infant school building boundary walls and gate heights have been raised to improve on safety measures. The school conducts regular safety audits to review the situation periodically. We are once again in the process of buffering up school security further. A recent measure is that of not allowing the taxi drivers beyond the school gate. We will keep you posted about such upgradations periodically. However as partners in the well-being of our children, we solicit your co-operation in this regard.

Looking forward to your support.
