CIRCULAR REGARDING ONLINE VIOLENT GAMES (CLASSES V-X)
Dear Parents,
The school has been constantly trying to promote mental wellness in students to prevent acts of aggression and violence. To this effect we had organized sessions with the noted Cyber specialist Mr. Rakshit Tandon in April 2018.
It was followed by A Conversation Camp for Class X in the month of May. Post summer vacations, the School Counsellors and Special Educators have conducted sessions on ‘Adolescence and Behaviour’ and ‘Life Skills’ for classes V, VI, VII and IX.
All these activities are aimed at building values like tolerance, social harmony, respecting diversity in a heterogeneous group which is part of school environment.
It has come to our notice that some children from Primary to Secondary classes are indulging in online games which promote violence. Games like PUBG, Clash of Clans are hot favourites among the younger generation. These games incite children to find weapons and kill the other gamers.
On probing, it has been found that children are using android phones of parents and/or using play stations to play these kinds of online violent games.
The school and home are equal partners in shaping the mental health of children. We have requested the parents several times not to provide children with smart phones as well as monitor the time spent online. Evidently this is not happening in a consistent manner.
We once again reiterate the harmful effects of playing these violent games on young impressionable minds. Kindly refrain from providing smart phones to your wards and also monitor the games played on cyber space by your wards.
We are together responsible for ensuring that the future generation imbibes the values of sociability, peace and compassion.
