‘We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment.’

Dear Parents

The word ‘environment’ is synonymous with surroundings. However, when people think of ‘the environment’ they think of the natural environment. They envision trees, animals, and the landscape. While the environment and ecology are not synonymous, they often go hand in hand.

When a child studies about environment in the classroom he/she may study ecosystems and ecology, ways of saving the environment, conservation, animal habitats, the food chain and geography. The environment includes all living and non-living things occurring naturally on Earth. It is the environment that encompasses the interaction of all living species, climate, weather and natural resources and also the surroundings that affect human survival and economic activity.

The effects of pollution are not confined to the environment. The potential for damage to historical monuments has already been realized. Preservation of our innumerable ancient monuments plays an important cultural role in cultivating pride of our heritage and past. In fact, our varied and multicultural inheritance makes us unique in the world.

To raise awareness about the significance of a healthy environment, Delhi Public School – Rohini is celebrating ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES WEEK from Monday, 23 July 2018 to Friday, 27 July 2018.

Various fun- filled activities have been planned for Classes II - V to make this week an enriching combination of appreciation of our natural world and human impact on its integrity.

The details of the activities are attached alongwith.

WE SHOULD TRY TO HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT…. Let us join hands in making our children better citizens…

Looking forward to your whole- hearted support and cooperation….as always!
