Thursday 18/10/18

The German Exchange group landed in Delhi after a very long journey from Die Loburg,Ostbevern. They were warmly welcomed by the host families. In the evening, they visited a supermarket and had rest.

Friday 19/10/18

It was a day of gourmet tasting and visiting indian restaurants. They were introduced to the Indian lifestyle and spent time with their host families. Some of the students went Pandal hopping and saw the burning of the effigy of Ravana, learning the important lesson of victory of good over evil.

Saturday 20/10/18

Students and teachers visited some famous monuments like the Lotus Temple and Humayun's Tomb. They learnt about Indian history and architecture. Some students also visited Chandni Chowk and saw the wonderfully decorated markets of Dariba and Nai Sarak on a rikshaw.

Sunday 21/10/18

Bowling at Ambience Mall Gurugram was an attraction on this day. They had continental food at the food court and also did some shopping.

Monday 22/10/18

On the first day of school for the German students. A special assembly was held for their welcome. They were felicitated by the Principal. A session on Indian dances was held followed by a lunch organised by the school. They were introduced to the project and were given a tour of the school. In the evening they spent time with their families.

Tuesday 23/10/18

The project work commenced in the morning. A session was held by the School Councillor, Shubha Chandrashekhar on the cultural differences of the two countries. In the afternoon, the students visited the Akshardham Temple. They experienced a guided tour of the Akshardham Temple and learnt about its history through an exhibition, short documentary, boat ride followed by light and sound show.

Wednesday 24/10/18

Wednesday was a holiday and the exchange students visited Kingdom of Dreams and Dilli Haat. Some students also went to the mall for shopping.

Thursday 25/10/18

The exchange students along with their teachers left for Agra at 6:00 a.m. They visited the magnificent Taj Mahal and had Indian lunch.

Friday 26/10/18

A session on Indian Society and Culture was held for the exchange students. The children also learnt Indian Classical Music. A friendly match of Indian Games was carried out among the exchange students. The german students learnt traditional Indian games like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi and also played a friendly basketball match.

Saturday & Sunday 27/10/18 & 28/10/18

The German students along with their Indian counterparts thoroughly enjoyed their last weekend in New Delhi. Some students went for weekend get-togethers with friends and family. On Sunday, 28 Oct around 15 students visited cyber hub in Gurgaon. They were exposed to top class architecture of the industrial hub. Other places visited include:

Monday 29/10/18

The day began with students completing their projects in the first two periods at school. Later, students attended a session conducted by the Head of the Cultural Department- Ms. Johanna Borchardt at the German Embassy, New Delhi. She addressed the gathering and apprised them of the existing cooperation and exchange programmes between India and Germany in the field of school education. The Indian students learnt more about the career opportunities in Germany. The German pupils also mentioned about their exposure to Indian culture and lifestyle.

Tuesday 30/10/18

The day started with the exchange students attending a Yoga session conducted by the sports department. This activity was followed by the completion of project work by the students. After a short break, the German students attended a music lesson conducted by the music department. The last two periods were also devoted to project work.

Tuesday 31/10/18

India sensitization workshop for exchange students from Germany was conducted in the school premises by resource persons from the Max Muellar Bhawan. The aim of the workshop was to develop a long-term understanding of the differences between Indian and German culture. Resource persons, Mrs. Vaishali Karmarkar, Ms. Preeti Shah and Ms. Preeti discussed the important milestones (Ancient - Middle Ages - Modern) in Indian history and carried out exercises and activities to help German students discover Indian history and psychology of people. The Indian students worked on the projects during this duration.

Tuesday 01/11/18

The concluding day of the exchange programme kicked off with preparations for the farewell assembly in full throttle. The farewell assembly began at 10 a.m and was attended by exchange students, Indian students, students learning German language from DPSR and parents of the exchange students. The Vice Principal felicitated the guests and enlightened the audience with her speech. The German teachers, Mrs. Weissnicht and Ms. Grothues shared their experiences in India. This was followed by a presentation of Rag Bhimpalasi by the Music dept. of the school and a musical presentation by the Indian student, 'Ein Hoch Auf uns'. The highlight of the assembly however, was the mesmerizing aarti sung by the German students and teachers and display of the project presentations including dance depiction of stories from Panchatantra, e-poster making and madhubani paintings.

The families of the exchange students gathered once again at 2 p.m. at Pizza Hut, PVR, Prashant Vihar for the farewell party. The German students enjoyed pizzas and pastas along with their partners, their families and friends. It was a memorable afternoon for them.

Tuesday 02/11/18

With the sunrise, all the families gathered at Gate 4 of departure terminal of Indira Gandhi Intl. Airport at 7 a.m. to bid a final adieu to the German guests. They conveyed greetings to each others and sent gifts for the German host families. It was an emotional moment. Everyone waved a final goodbye to the Germans happily looking forward to meet them some other day.
